Q:
So you're in
charge of the
Star Bar @
Bedrock?
A:
Yep. Indeed we
are.
Q:
How long has
the night been
going?
A:
We had our
first one in
November 1998,
so we've been
at it for a
while!
Q:
It's a monthly
event isn't it,
so that must
keep you a bit
busy! Does
anyone else
help you out,
any other
co-promoters?
A:
We started off
doing it every
other month
alternating with
Adam Freeland,
but for the
last year or
so, we've been
at it almost
every month.
There's no
other
co-promoters
involved, other
than the
Bedrock lot of
course.

Q:
So tell me, how
did landing the
Star Bar at
John Digweed's
massive club
bash come
about?
A:
Well, John and
Nick Muir did a
remix of a
Terminalhead
tune called
'Weekend
Warriors' and
we got talking
through that.
He asked us if
we wanted to do
a one-off event
there, so we
did and it went
so well that we
kind of became
part of the
Bedrock
Masterplan.
Q:
Did you start
off at any
other venue
with this
night, and have
you had a hand
in promoting
any other
nights in the
past?
A:
We've never
really been
involved in any
kind of
promoting; we
just get asked
to do parties
and stuff for
people and
try to do
the night in a
way that we
would want it
if we were
punters. That's
why our room's
so popular, cos
we run it like
a
party.
Q:
Bedrock and
John Digweed
are more
obviously known
for progressive
house, and
you're in the
nu skool breaks
vein, so what
is you're music
policy and how
do you feel it
works with the
main club's
policy?
A:
It's a perfect
partner to the
fours stuff
that goes on
down stairs.
We've got a
great crowd who
come just for
our room now
but we're
always
converting some
of the
downstairs
people to
breaks! Our
music policy is
quite simple -
party music. We
don't really
consider our
room nu skool
at all, but 99%
of the stuff in
our room is
breaks with the
odd tech-house
tune when
appropriate.

Q:
You obviously
get a well
mixed audience,
with the ardent
breaks fans who
know you for
what you do,
plus the
regular house
crowd - what
kind of
reaction do you
get from the
housey
set?
A:
We always see
the glowstick
massive walk in
and go 'wow'
and then stay
in the room the
whole night!
They love it!
We cannot abide
musical
snobbery - if
it's rocking,
it's
rocking!
